APPA
Scholarships through SRAPPA
What
is the APPA Scholarship Program?
Scholarship Program Policy
The APPA Scholarship Program was established "in order to stimulate further development in the field of facilities management and to advance the purposes of the Association," according to APPA Bylaws.
Only persons presently employed full-time in the field of facilities management at an APPA member institution are eligible.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by the regional organizations and will be awarded by the Educational Programs Committee on an individual basis. (Most regions also offer their own Institute scholarships. See regional criteria for additional scholarship requirements.)
The amount of a scholarship grant will be at the discretion of the Educational Programs Committee. Normally, scholarships will be granted to cover registration fees at APPA's Institute for Facilities Management. In addition, SRAPPA will cover up to $1,000.00 in un-reimbursed travel and living expenses.
One registration scholarship per region for each APPA Institute has been authorized by the APPA Board of Directors.
Preference will be given to persons who plan to pursue or continue a career in facilities management and who display high motivation and leadership ability.
Scholarships will normally be granted to an individual only once.
Send your completed and endorsed application by September 30, 2000 to Jeffrey A. Turner, Director of Long-Range Planning via e-mail at jaturner@access.k12.wv.us .The applications will be reviewed (and scholarships awarded) at the fall regional meeting.
Each region will make its selection based on its own set of criteria. The regional contact person will then forward the name of the region's recommended scholarship recipient to APPA's Vice President for Educational Programs, who will verify the results and notify the selected recipients and other applicants. All applicants will be notified in November regarding the status of their application.
For more information about the Institute Scholarship Program, contact the APPA office at 1643 Prince Street Alexandria, Virginia 22314-2818. Phone: 703-684-1446. Fax: 703-549-2772. E-mail Andrea Krug, Meetings and Conference Manager at andria@appa.org. You may also contact your regional representative, Jeff Turner, Director of Long-Range Planning via e-mail at jaturner@access.k12.wv.us.
Scholarship recipients will be asked to submit an essay report of their APPA Institute experiences once they have completed the program. The recipient may be asked to present the essay at the annual meeting.
Scholarship recipients must enroll in the Institute prior to September of the year following the Annual Board meeting that they were awarded the scholarship. Note: Recipient does not have to be in classes by that time, but should at least be enrolled to attend the institute.
